| View in browser October 2026 Hi Member, It’s been a big month for Clean Fuels Michigan! We celebrated our 10th anniversary at DISRUPT!, marked an important milestone for Michigan’s clean fuels future with the introduction of the Competitive Fuels Act, and welcomed Joseph Vitick to our team as our new Policy Manager.   I’ve spent the last six years of my career helping Clean Fuels Michigan and Michigan’s clean fuels industry grow. I’m grateful and honored to be part of this organization’s first 10 years, and proud of what we’ve built together. We’ll be sharing more about our decade of progress throughout the fall, so follow us on LinkedIn if you haven’t already!   Ten years in, our work continues to grow, and there’s plenty ahead. Thank you to our members, partners, and supporters for being part of it. I’m excited about what we’ll accomplish together in the next chapter.   THIS MONTH'S MOVEMENT Competitive Fuels Policy Introduced in Michigan Senate   Michigan leaders are taking action to secure the state’s leadership in the rapidly growing clean fuels sector. State Senator Sam Singh (D-District 28), joined by leading business and industry organizations, introduced the Michigan Competitive Fuels Act, legislation that will create jobs, attract new investment, and expand access to domestic, affordable fuels across Michigan.   The legislation would support both traditional and emerging clean fuel technologies, helping Michigan businesses expand, attract investment, and create good-paying jobs. The Michigan Competitive Fuels Coalition, now representing 70 companies and organizations across automotive, energy, agriculture, and transportation, is working to advance this opportunity. PRESS RELEASE: Competitive Fuels Policy Thank You for Welcoming Joseph to Our Team!   We appreciate our board, members, and broader network for giving Joseph, our new Policy Manager, such a warm welcome! Many of you have already taken the time to introduce your organizations and share your policy priorities with him. These conversations are invaluable as we work together to navigate Michigan’s evolving clean mobility landscape and explore the opportunities and challenges facing our members.   With an extensive background in politics and public policy, Joseph brings valuable experience, tremendous enthusiasm, and a fresh perspective to our team and the broader clean fuels community. We're already putting his expertise to work and look forward to all we’ll accomplish together to advance Michigan’s clean mobility future!   EV charging doesn't have to add to peak electricity demand. In a recent blog, Jane explores how managed charging can help drivers and fleets reduce costs while improving utilization  of existing grid capacity.   Michigan utilities are already seeing results, with Consumers Energy reporting more than 95% off-peak charging through its EV load management programs and DTE Energy reporting 97% off-peak charging through its Smart Charge pilot in 2025. BLOG: Managed Charging Makes Better Use of the Grid DISRUPT! 2026: Celebrating 10 Years of Clean Mobility Wins   On September 24th, DISRUPT! 2026 brought together Michigan’s clean mobility community for an unforgettable evening of fresh ideas, meaningful connections, and a celebration of Clean Fuels Michigan’s 10th anniversary.   With a packed room at the Detroit Foundation Hotel, inspiring Lightning Talks from Reilly (Butler) Carpenter, Avery Lukan, and Natalie King, and a celebratory toast from Milena Kabashi of DTE Energy, the evening showcased the people and partnerships moving Michigan’s clean mobility future forward.   A special thank you to our speakers, sponsors, members, and everyone who joined us to make this milestone so memorable. From new introductions to conversations that sparked new ideas, DISRUPT! demonstrated the power of bringing industry leaders together to turn shared ambitions into opportunities for collaboration.   Here’s to the next decade of bold ideas, stronger partnerships, and continued progress for Michigan’s clean mobility industry! Clean Transportation Policy Priorities   As Michigan prepares for the 2027 legislative session, Clean Fuels Michigan has outlined five policy priorities designed to strengthen the state’s transportation sector and support continued investment and innovation.   These priorities focus on competitive fuels, state fleet leadership, consumer choice, geologic hydrogen, and clean transportation investment. Together, these policies can help Michigan maintain its leadership in mobility and manufacturing while creating opportunities for businesses, workers, and consumers.   Check out our new fact sheet to help engage with policymakers and effectively communicate why these issues matter to Michigan.
